DS Smith is currently seeking a Credit & Collections Team Member to join the Finance Department. Reporting into the Credit & Collections Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to protect DS Smith’s investment in its debtors as well as maintaining the lowest level of receivables by maximising cash collections and minimising bad debt.
As well as protecting DS Smith’s investments, you will be responsible for carrying out the day to day collections activities as defined in the credit policy. You will manage a portfolio of customer accounts and will build excellent working relationships with these customers, liaising with them directly regarding payments and adherence to agreed credit terms, thus ensuring that cash targets and achieved and where possible, exceeded. You will deliver excellent customer service at all times, ensuring that customer queries are processed in a timely manner and are effectively resolved.
Further to this, you will keep within acceptable levels of bad debts and will identify high risk and marginal risk accounts, taking the necessary action to safeguard sales to those customers. You will monitor overdue debt against agreed payment terms and will act in accordance with the credit policy. You will comply with the Group’s credit insurance policy at all times and will provide assistance in regards to bad debt provisioning.
You will also build excellent working relationships within the Credit & Collections Team and wider business, adopting a flexible approach to ensure targets are met effectively. You will support other Team Members, providing cover during periods of absence when required. You will also work closely with the Credit & Collections Supervisors, informing them of any key collections issues and suggesting ideas for process improvement where possible. You will also participate in regular credit meetings and will provide information to management as requested.
Proven experience in a similar role, within a large organisation
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build good working relations with both internal and external stakeholders
Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to resolve internal and external customer queries
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to produce work of an excellent standard, paying meticulous attention to detail at all times
Strong Microsoft Office Skills (particularly Excel)
- Ability to prioritise and execute tasks
Must be prepared to travel to UK Site locations if required
