looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual who has the ability
to work in and with communities and with partners to
encourage and support local communities to identify, prioritise and address
their own health and health-related needs. Working
as part of the Public Health and Wellbeing Team in Aberdeen Health and Social
Care Partnership and based in an area of known health inequalities you will encourage
and support people of various ages living in local communities to take part in
and develop local health improvement activity (e.g. food skills, first aid for
under fives, smoking cessation etc).
You will need
standard grade level qualifications or equivalent as a minimum; be able to
demonstrate relevant experience of working in or with communities; have the
ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in the community and
workers across different organisations and demonstrate you have skills to work
with groups. You will be required to use your own initiative and also work as
part of team, have good organisational skills and ability to support funding
applications and write reports.
have an understanding of the issues that contribute to health inequalities and
ways in which to support people and communities to improve their health.
Ideally, you should also have an understanding of the principles and purpose of
community development approaches to health and wellbeing.
