Reed Education are currently working with a school in Keighley whom are in need of strong cover supervisors to play the important role of maintaining the curriculum progress in the absence of qualified teachers.
The role of a cover supervisor involves confidently distributing work to students which has been pre-set across a range of subjects, you must also be able to manage behaviour of students in line with the schools policy whilst ensuring that there is safeguarding where appropriate. Yes that’s right, the role of a cover supervisor involves no lesson planning and no marking. This role is ideal for a good work-life balance as you do not bring any work home with you.
A cover supervisor is not expected to be a specialist in the subject, rather you shall eventually become a specialist in behaviour management, ensuring that there is learning continuity in the teacher’s absence.
Confidence, patience and approachability are essential, while experience is preferred but not a requirement.
Confidence is key as you shall be expected to maintain a strong classroom presence and respect from the pupils. Experience in sports/ performing arts coaching is desirable for this role.
