An experienced Costs Draftsman is required by a global legal firm in Central Birmingham. This exciting opportunity has come about due to the organisation going through a period of sustained growth in 2018. The role of the Costs Draftsman will sit within the Litigation Department and is in place to take responsibility for the management of all costs work.
The Costs Draftsman will be responsible for preparing and submitting claims for all cost related activity (assessment and payment). The successful candidate will then present these costs drafts to the court and other parties when required. You will also be responsible for managing and negotiating settlements in court procedures. You will liaise closely with other team members across the business to provide advice regarding cost issues.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Prepare forms for court, such as Precedent H cost budgets, Precedent R report, Statements of costs, formal bills of costs etc.
- Draft Points of Dispute and responses
- Liaise with fee earners/support staff for updates on caseloads
- Provide advice on legal cost issues and matters
Key experience/knowledge required:
- Party and party cost recovery
- High Court and county court bankruptcy
- Supreme Court
- Solicitors Act 1974 costs assessments
- Legal in-house finance systems such as Elite, Webview, Carpe Diem
Candidates with a professional qualification accredited by the Association of Cost Lawyers will be preferred, although alternative qualifications will be considered.
