£26k - £32k + 12% Pension, 25 days leave, PMI and Cashplan.

As part of those developments, in 2016 we created a brand new in-house Costs team which will help shape the future of our claims department. We have a requirement for an experienced costs adviser to join the team and take a proactive approach to costs disputes resolution.
The purpose of this role is to provide costs negotiation following payment of damages. The post holder will work as part of a collaborative, co-located team including in-house Litigation Solicitors, doctors, assistants and support staff
The costs adviser should have significant experience in drafting and negotiating legal costs and experience of handling own case load. Key responsibilities of the role may include all of some of the following - preparation of Bills of Cost, Points of Dispute and Points of Reply for fast track and multi-track claims, a pro-active approach in the resolution of claims for costs; applying principles of justice and equity at all times; saving costs by minimising the use of outside legal agents where possible and appropriate; liaising with other medical defence organisations on apportionment issues, relating to costs and seek contributions where necessary.
Applicants must have experience of dealing with costs disputes (ideally clinical negligence defendant), experience in complex, multi-track costs disputes as well as fast track and be able to demonstrate significant experience of handling own case load. Successful candidates will be IT literate, with practical experience of using IT as an analytical and case management tool combined with proven understanding of the CPR and claims process and ideally experience in dealing with Part 7 and Part 8 proceedings.
