AJ Chambers are currently working with a top 20 firm who are looking to recruit a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager for their Northampton office. The firm is looking for someone CTA qualified with significant corporate tax experience.

The Role

As a Corporate Tax Assistant Manager your role will be varied, you will be managing your own portfolio of clients, supporting the Tax Managers, Director and Partners and supervise junior members of the team.

Duties will include:

  • Manage portfolio of clients, meeting their requirements and maximising fee income
  • Manage the production of clients corporate tax computations for your own clients and Partners’ clients
  • Plan, control and review work carried out by team members to ensure work is completed within timeframes and budget
  • Respond to tax queries from Partners/Directors
  • Assist with billing
  • Carry out consultancy work when required
  • Attend client meetings where appropriate
  • Design and implement standard letters/systems to improve the efficiency of the Tax Department
  • Ad hoc projects/research
  • Assist in completing appraisals for all allocated members of staff
  • Allocate and review jobs / tasks
  • Ensure trainees receive training relevant to their level of ability

The Ideal Candidate

  • CTA/ACA qualified
  • Detailed knowledge of all aspects of UK corporation tax and sound knowledge of other business taxes
  • IT literate (Excel, Word, tax software)
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written
  • Experience managing staff
  • Good organisational and time management skills as well as an ability to work well under pressure
  • Client focused/ commercial awareness
  • Good problem solving and decision making
