CORPORATE INSURANCE LAWYER – LONDON / EDINBURGH
We are currently looking to recruit a lawyer from 3 years PQE to join the Corporate Insurance team.
The Candidate Required
The successful candidate will ideally have gained experience in a City firm or a large regional practice. Candidates must be technically excellent but equally important, commercially aware and enthusiastic about business development. They will be a team player with a strong client focussed approach. They will also have a strong academic background and excellent communication and organisational skills.
Background to the Corporate Insurance Team
Our Corporate Insurance team is an integral part of our genuinely full service insurance practice which boasts over 50 lawyers. Our insurance sector client base includes each of the top 10 UK general insurers and 6 of the top 10 UK life insurers. We have numerous legal directory rankings for our insurance offering.
Our Corporate Insurance team currently comprises 10 dedicated lawyers. The team is headed by Hammad Akhtar who joined the firm in 2017 from Ashurst. The team advises life insurers, general insurers, and reinsurers on a broad range of matters but with a particular focus on:
Part VII transfers, both domestic and cross-border
Other risk transfer mechanisms
In addition to the above, successful candidates will have an opportunity to work on commercial matters such as product develop and distribution arrangements. The team also advises other financial institutions like retail banks, private banks, intermediaries, brokers and asset managers on a broad range of transactional matters.
The team has had significant success winning instructions on complex strategic transactions (including reorganisations prompted by Brexit). They most regularly compete for work against the magic and silver circle firms.
The team forms part of an international corporate group which comprises some 120 lawyers, including more than 35 partners. The corporate practice is acknowledged leader with, for example, Tier 1 rankings for both mid-market M&A and private equity transactions.
