Cooks Required in Educational Sector based in Newham

We are currently seeking a cook to work within our Education clients based within the Newham Borough

All applicants will need to have or willing to go through an enhanced DBS along with references

Hours will vary however will be based on approximately a 25 hour week Monday to Friday

The overall purpose of Job

·To provide, plan, prepare, cook and serve nutritionally balanced school meals, within any school meals location.

Job Context

·The potholder reports to an Area Manager via an Assistant Manager.

Key Tasks and Account abilities

1.To be responsible for menu planning and portion control.

2.To prepare and cook food.

3.To organise and supervise the food service.

4.To allocate duties and responsibilities to kitchen staff; general supervision including staff induction and hygiene training.

5.To take responsibility for the ordering and receipt/checking of food cleaning equipment and materials

6.To ensure that all supplies of food and equipment and cleaning materials are of the right standard; to check on all deliveries on receipt.

7.To produce work rotas and allocate tasks accordingly.

8.To monitor the performance of Catering staff, and to recommend remedial action if urgent.

9.To ensure the health, hygiene and security of all personnel on the premises, according to statutory regulations.

10.To ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all kitchen/dining center/room equipment; to organise and take part in all necessary cleaning.

11.To assist in the control of costs through following recommended menus and recipes.

12.To maintain necessary records e.g. stock taking ensuring that it’s completed and returned on time.

13.To complete and check time sheets and other related staff documentation.

14.To supervise cashiers and cash records where required

15.To liaise, as required, with catering staff, suppliers, head teachers, principals and others concerned with the running of the services.

16.To provide reciprocal cover within the Catering service where required, and to work at various sites as and when directed to do so.

17.To provide and maintain records necessary to the companies quality Assurance System.

18.To deal with complaints arising from the delivery of the service in a timely manner.

19.Such other duties, within the competence of the potholder, which may be required, reasonably, from time to time.
