JOB DESCRIPTION: CONVEYANCING ASSISTANT/PARALEGAL

SALARY: £25,000 - £31,000

LOCATION: Cambridge

HOURS: 37 Hours per week - Monday – Friday

BENEFITS: plus Additional bens

Are you an experienced Conveyancing Assistant or Paralegal with at least 12 months’ experience? Do you want to join a reputable and dynamic law firm in Cambridgeshire?

Our client is looking for a dedicated individual to provide support within their busy Conveyancing team. You will be involved in a variety of residential property matters, including sales, purchases, and transfers of equity. You will initially support a team and transition into one-to-one support for a Fee Earner, delivering high-quality legal services to a growing client base.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Providing support to fee earners
  • Assist with the caseload of conveyancing and building relationships with clients, providing legal advice, and ensuring efficient case management, ultimately contributing to the profitability of the firm.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Provide day-to-day assistance to the conveyancing team
  • Managing Sales, Purchases, Transfers of Equity files, both registered and unregistered, Leasehold and freehold properties
  • Answering a high volume of incoming calls for updates and information
  • Processing data on the Leap case management system
  • Ordering searches and reviewing search results
  • Checking IDs
  • Dealing with transactions over the telephone
  • Responsible for checking Search results and Mortgage Offers
  • Liaise with clients, solicitors, and third parties to ensure the smooth progress of matters
  • Working under extreme pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Maintain a business diary detailing client appointments and critical dates
  • Completing SDLT forms,
  • Prepare documentation and handle post-completion formalities
  • Working in a busy team environment and on own initiative
  • Handle confidential information in line with the firm's data security protocols



PERSON SPECIFICATION:

  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in a conveyancing support role (assistant or paralegal level)
  • Knowledge of residential conveyancing processes, including sales, purchases, and transfers of equity
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines
  • Excellent communication and client care skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and provide reliable support to Fee Earners
  • Professional, approachable, and client-focused attitude
  • Experience working in a busy, high-volume conveyancing department
  • Knowledge of Land Registry and SDLT procedures
  • Ability to manage some elements of files with minimal supervision
