Control Systems Engineer

Hornbill Engineering have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to work on a broad range of PLC based projects in a diverse range of industries. Based at our Neath office the ideal candidate will have 10 years’ experience of specifying and programming bespoke PLC based control systems from initial concept through to commissioning and onsite support. Systems Projects are predominately based in the UK although occasionally foreign travel may be required. Commercial experience is required of leading PLC and HMI / SCADA systems including Allen Bradley, Siemens and Mitsubishi, additionally the candidate must be experienced with programming and commissioning both AC and DC Drives, and process instrumentation. The candidate will be required to advise and assist the design department when specifying PLC based control systems, including communication networks.

The candidate must be able to work on own initiative and have Project Management experience including the generation of software specifications, software quotations, and all required project documentation. Ideally the candidate will be familiar with the surrounding electrical control and safety systems, the ability to produce electrical schematic designs will be a distinct advantage. Training will be provided to maintain currency with system developments, and to increase the depth of understanding in important systems design and development.
