Job Title: Senior Control and Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Wantage, UK

Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum

Employment Type: Permanent

Job Overview:

A leading company is seeking a Senior Control and Electrical Design Engineer to design and implement electrical and control systems for special-purpose machinery and process developments. The role involves managing projects from concept to completion, supporting equipment installations, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Occasional travel to manufacturing plants may be required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical and control systems for machinery, test rigs, and automation solutions.

  • Program PLCs, HMIs, and intelligent drive controllers (Siemens, Mitsubishi, or Allen Bradley experience is a plus).

  • Specify instrumentation, sensors, and vision systems for process control.

  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to deliver projects from specification to commissioning.

  • Ensure compliance with electrical standards and safety regulations.

  • Provide technical training and mentorship to apprentices.

Key Requirements:
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical & Control Engineering or related field.

  • Experience designing control and electrical systems for machinery or test rigs.

  • Hands-on electrical panel building and wiring skills.

  • Proficiency in electrical CAD software (SolidWorks Electrical preferred).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge of BS EN60204-1, BS7671, EN ISO 13849 regulations.
