CONTRACT Front End Developer - Watford - 12 Months!!

CONTRACT Front End Developer required for a leading Ecommerce company on a contract basis.

Location: Watford

Length: 12 months initial

Day rate: Dependent upon experience


  • XHTML and CSS, adhering to W3C coding standards.
  • Transforming detailed designs into pixel-perfect HTML
  • Commercial experience of working with Magento 1 eCommerce Platform
  • Proficient understanding of client-side scripting, native JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
  • Proficient understanding of Responsive Design, Grid systems and/or CSS frameworks (Bootstrap, Foundation, SASS/LESS etc)
  • Ability to converse with technical and non-technical teams with a great attitude, strong work ethic and adaptive communication style
  • Strong understanding/awareness of Usability and Web Accessibility Standards


  • Solid information, interaction, and visual design skills within a UX context
  • Experience creating site architecture diagrams, wireframes, process flows
  • Experience designing for dynamic and template-driven sites
  • Experience integrating with server-side code to produce dynamic pages (JSP and/or PHP)
  • Understanding of Unit Testing frameworks eg. Jasmine/Karma using TDD methodology
  • Code Review tools such as Crucible and/or Git Merge Requests
  • Experience of industry standard vector & bitmap graphics packages
  • Experience of working on Java projects would be extremely advantageous
  • Grunt/Gulp
  • eCommerce agency experience desirable and/or other eCommerce platforms eg. Hybris & IBM WCS
  • Working within an Agile environment


  • Create prototypes and production-ready XHTML/CSS built on the Magento 1 eCommerce platform
  • Focus on user needs and optimum user experience
  • Build reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
  • Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
  • Excellent attention to detail to produce pixel perfect HTML/CSS - a passion for this is desirable
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
  • Be involved in team code reviews and adhering to Salmon coding standards
