This is an excellent role for a driven contentious probate specialist who is seeking either their next step towards partnership or a lateral move at the partner level, within a supportive and growing private client disputes team.

You will have the opportunity to manage a complex and varied caseload of contentious probate matters, advising a broad range of clients including executors, beneficiaries, trustees, and other interested parties. The role offers the chance to build lasting client relationships while leading or contributing significantly to the development of the department.

You will be responsible for:

• Managing a caseload of contentious probate and estate dispute matters from inception to resolution.

• Advising executors, beneficiaries, trustees, and other parties on complex inheritance disputes, will challenges, trust matters, and claims under the Inheritance Act.

• Handling all aspects of dispute resolution including pre-action protocols, mediation, negotiation, and court proceedings.

• Drafting key legal documents such as court pleadings, witness statements, and formal correspondence.

• Developing pragmatic legal strategies and providing commercially sound advice to clients.

• Working closely with colleagues, providing mentorship, and contributing to the wider growth and success of the team.

• Participating in business development and networking initiatives to continue expanding the firm's contentious probate offering.

• Strong experience managing a contentious probate caseload within a reputable law firm.

• Excellent understanding of wills, trusts, probate, and estate administration.

• Proven litigation skills and familiarity with court processes, alternative dispute resolution, and settlement negotiations.

• Ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.

• Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and multiple cases simultaneously.

• Strong client management skills with a professional, empathetic, and pragmatic approach.

• Ambitious, commercially aware, and enthusiastic about contributing to the team's long-term growth.

• For Partner-level applicants: demonstrable leadership ability and a strong track record in building client relationships and developing a profitable practice.
