Consumer Project Manager

Our Client works provides scientific, technical and legislative support to the food, drinks and allied industries worldwide. The offer analysis testing, operational support to many blue-chip companies and household names. The Department of Consumer and Sensory Science are looking to take on a Consumer Project Manager.

Duties and responsibilities:

Job Purpose

Project Manage and coordinate activities of the Benchmarking team from concept of project, coordination and evaluation of sampling sessions, through to data collection and communication of final results.

Support the Consumer Testing Services Manager in the form of delivering training courses, presentations, support existing business from major clients and actively seek to grow and develop an additional volume of business from new clients.

Prepare and approve client reports, detailing the evaluation of samples with specific attention to suggested improvements, comparison data and market positioning.

Responsible for the continuous training and development of the Home Economists, Sensory Technicians and Administrative team.

Assist in the organisation of seminars and conferences including the preparation and delivery of presentations at both internal and external events for food industry clients, including bespoke training courses on Product Benchmarking on and off site.

Responsible for the maintenance of the quality and traceability systems within the Benchmarking section.

Qualifications and competencies

A degree or equivalent qualification in a food related subject.

Between 5-10 years’ experience in the food or catering industry.

Basic Food Hygiene certificate.

Proficient and extensive knowledge on food, ingredients, processing and the market place.

Key skills

Good managerial skills, able to motivate, co-ordinate and develop team to deliver objectives timely and efficiently.

Able to communicate effectively and professionally at all levels internally and externally including

conversing with new and existing clients to understand their specific needs and requirements.

Fully understand the potential impact of errors on client’s business and team’s reputation and ensure sufficient checks/sign offs are made to avoid mistakes.

Write, check and approve final client’s reports, ensuring accuracy and that they are delivered within the given timescale.

As a project manager, contribute to the financial performance of the section and strive to attain above average section targets.

The role as advertised will be based at Chipping Campden but could require from time to time travel to other Group sites.
