Consultant Radiologist

NHS Dumfries and Galloway are looking for Consultants to join an outstanding radiological services department. Based in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary. The main aspects of the role will include:

• Plain image reporting
• Ultrasound scanning
• CT and MR reporting
• Supervision and training of radiographers
• Teaching of medical and radiography students
• Clinical audit
• Weekly multi-disciplinary meetings

The consultant job plan is flexible and open to negotiation on appointment. Consideration would be given to part time working and other flexible work patterns. The job plan will be offered on a 10PA contract with an on-call commitment of 1 in 7 with prospective cover, attracting a 5% availability supplement. We are currently running a Pilot for Out of Hours Radiology with support being provided by third party provider.

Current radiological facilities in Dumfries include a Toshiba Aquilion MDCT(64) scanner, a GE 1.5T MR scanner. Toshiba Apilo 400, GE Logiq e9 , and Aloka ultrasound scanners, symptomatic FFD mammography, DEXA scanner, Philips DSA and a digital screening room. In Stranraer, a Toshiba Aquilion MDCT(16) scanner and an Toshiba ultrasound scanner. Carestream PACS is fully implemented with Dumfries and Stranraer being filmless departments.

These posts are a real opportunity. While our current Royal Infirmary is modern, friendly and well equipped, we are now planning on moving to the new District General Hospital in December 2017. This will include a completely new radiology suite, including the purchase of new equipment and improved patient flows to and from radiology.

Applicants must be fully registered with the General Medical Council, hold the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (or equivalent radiological qualification), and be entered on the specialist register at the time of commencing the appointment
