Consultant Nephrologist with interest in Vasculitis
Applications are invited for a full time Nephrology Consultant with an interest in Vasculitis and SLE to join a team of 15 consultants in Renal Medicine at University Hospital in Coventry and Warwickshire. This is a replacement post following retirement.
The Renal programme provides all aspects of Nephrology and includes a nationally recognised transplant service working in collaboration with the Oxford transplant team. The vasculitis service has become well established over recent years and this post offers an opportunity to develop the service further in collaboration with colleagues in other specialties. Combined clinics already occur between specialities and there would be an opportunity to develop these into a connective tissue diseases service. There are leads in vasculitis within the Rheumatology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Respiratory and Neurology departments on site. There is scope for candidates interested in research to develop this further if they wish in collaboration with other departments and local universities. The appointee will represent University Hospital at the West Midlands Vasculitis Network.
UHCW’s Renal Unit provides a sub-regional service for Nephrology and Transplantation. The catchment population for Nephrology and Dialysis is approximately 1 million with transplantation being offered to a population of nearly 2 million. The Renal Department at UHCW is a purpose built fully integrated facility with renal inpatient beds, a transplant unit, outpatient haemodialysis, an acute haemodialysis and plasma exchange unit, CAPD unit as well a day case unit within a large Teaching Hospital with all specialties on a single site.
