Consultant in General Adult Psychiatry

We invite you to apply for a consultant post in general adult psychiatry. This new post is the result of a major redesign of our mental health services.

You will be based at St John's Hospital Livingston which has special status as a teaching hospital for the University of Edinburgh Medical School. It is conveniently located 15 miles from Edinburgh and 30 miles from Glasgow with excellent connections to the central Scotland road network.

This post will offer an exciting opportunity to participate in the development of a multidisciplinary multi-agency community mental health team. West Lothian Health & Social Care Partnership is a partnership between NHS Lothian and West Lothian Council developed to further enhance the delivery of integrated health and social care services to the people of West Lothian.

St John's Hospital hosts general adult psychiatry outpatient and inpatient services (including an Intensive Psychiatric Care Unit) psychiatry for the elderly general and specialist liaison psychiatry regional Perinatal Mental Health Services the Regional Eating Disorders Unit and finally a national service of psychiatry for the deaf.

We have excellent links with the University of Edinburgh and the Lothian Quality Academy so may able to offer professional development opportunities as part of this new post.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and must be on or eligible to be on the specialist register in General Adult Psychiatry.
