We would like to offer an opportunity for enthusiastic radiologists who wish to develop and/or continue their careers in our department’s friendly, harmonious and supportive environment.
Following expansion of our service, merger of the Derby and Burton hospitals, and succession planning , applications are invited for 3 Consultant Radiologist posts; one in Head and Neck Radiology and two in Breast Radiology . Both posts will involve a component of general radiology.
A multidisciplinary group comprising consultants and radiographers provide a comprehensive, multi –modality Head + Neck and Breast imaging service involving regular MDTs, across the Trust.
The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust have a funded establishment of 41 Consultant Radiologists. The post attracts 10 PAs (8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA) but we would be happy to consider part time working arrangements. There is opportunity for additional PAs for dedicated SIFT funded teaching. We are keen to support staff development and a study leave allowance is provided for this.
We are keen to promote flexible working, which may be facilitated by home workstations. Approximately half our consultant work force have home work stations and we can work together to achieve a mutually beneficial job plan which enhances the work life balance of the successful candidates.
We are now a large cross site imaging department employing approximately 650 staff offering all imaging modalities. The Royal Derby site was the first imaging department in the East Midlands to obtain ISAS accreditation (2016) and this has been recently renewed to 2023. There has been a recent imaging equipment refurbishment programme which is part of a Managed Equipment Service scheme leaving us with modern up to date scanners – 8 MRI (one 3T) and 6 CT (five 128 slice). There are 5 fluoroscopy rooms including 2 dedicated interventional suites and a hybrid theatre will be operational in 2021. The Trust obtained a ‘good’ CQC rating in 2019 and has a graduate entry medical school allied to the University of Nottingham. There are expanding academic departments in medicine, paediatrics, Obstetrics & gynaecology, rehabilitation and surgery providing opportunity for research and teaching. We’re also nationally recognised for volunteering, which gives our Trust a warm and friendly environment.
