Post 1: General Internal Medicine (GIM) and Respiratory (Perth Royal Infirmary)

Post 2: Consultant in GIM with Critical Care (MHDU) and Respiratory (Ninewells Hospital)

Applications are invited for the above positions, which combines General (Internal) Medicine in Perth Royal Infirmary and Ninewells Hospital with sub-speciality sessions delivered in both Perth and Dundee.

We are looking for two new colleagues to help us deliver excellent medical and subspecialty care to our vibrant District General and Acute Hospitals with opportunities for sub-specialty interests across NHS Tayside.Perth Royal Infirmary has a 1 in 12 Acute Medical Receiving rota which includes weekend and overnight on-call. The current on-call arrangements in Ninewells include 1 in 6 weekends (day shifts) and 1 in 14 weeknights on call.In addition, the successful candidates will take part in postgraduate training and education along with opportunities to collaborate in research, and quality improvement.

The successful candidates will contribute to inpatient General Internal Medicine (including their specialty) on a one in three basis in Perth Royal Infirmary with the rest of time dedicated to specialty on both sites. This is delivered as 2 weeks G(I)M 'hot' block followed by a month of uninterrupted outpatients and specialty work.The Ninewells post will be split between G(I)M (Medical HDU) and Respiratory medicine with input into the acute medical take, the proportions of which will depend to a degree on the service required following Covid19.

Candidates should possess MRCP and be on the GMC Specialist Register in General Internal Medicine or be within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT or CESR (CP) at the time of interview for the post. Extensive training or experience in Respiratory Medicine and Medical HDU environments also mandatory inclusive of ‘Level 2’ respiratory support.
