Applications are invited for an enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic GI service in Forth Valley. The postholder will represent the ninth consultant gastroenterologist joining the existing team of eight.
The successful candidate will not only be required to contribute to the general clinical Gastroenterology and GI endoscopy service but also to support the development of a subspecialty interest which complements the existing team. Current sub-specialty interests within the department include inflammatory bowel disease, hepatology, pancreatobiliary disease, viral hepatitis, interventional endoscopy, nutrition and gastrooesophageal disease. The GI service functions as a fully integrated unit with all members contributing to a team-based approach to patient care and this appointment will play an important role in the continuing development and redesign of Gastroenterology services. We have a close working relationship with surgical colleagues for complex inpatient care (hepato-pancreato-biliary disease, inflammatory bowel disease, acute gastrointestional bleeds) and weekly upper GI / HPB / colorectal / IBD multi-disciplinary team meetings.
At present 6 of the 8 existing GI Consultants also contribute to the acute general medical receiving and it is expected that this appointment will carry a similar responsibility to unscheduled care in acute medicine.
