Construction Project Administrator

Type of Business

Design and build house-building and student housing company established in 1984, building a very high quality product. The business is based in Winchester and is run by two architects and employs twenty permanent members of staff.

As part of the project team the successful candidate will provide administrative support to the directors and other team members, assisting the smooth running of construction schemes from inception to completion on site.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, hardworking individual who is keen to grow and develop within this busy dynamic company. Good opportunities for progression for the right candidate.

Work to include:

  • Providing administrative support to the directors, architects and technical assistants
  • Typing up specifications and Schedules of Work using Abbotswood models

  • Writing quotation request letters to suppliers and sub contractors, and chasing for response

  • Taking minutes and distributing notes of contract meetings

  • Organising prints of working drawings and issuing to site

  • Typing letters etc and issuing site instructions

  • Answering phone, post, filing etc

  • Any other work as required

Candidates must have:

  • Previous admin experience, ideally in a construction based environment but not essential
  • Excellent Microsoft Office and Excel skills
  • Good typing speed
  • Very numerate - good Maths GCSE pass (B grade minimum) or AS/A Level
  • Good command of spoken and written English
  • Would suit graduate
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport preferred

Candidates should be:

  • Reliable, productive, effective and flexible
  • Punctual, conscientious and tenacious with a 'can do’ attitude

  • Even tempered with a confident attitude, able to manage interruptions

  • Good people and communication skills with a calm and friendly manner

  • Understands new instructions or ideas on the first pass (or so) and works at a good pace

  • Able to plan time, and set work goals
