Construction Manager High Rise Residential
About the Role
A major tier one contractor requires a Construction Manager to strengthen its management team on a high rise residential project in Leeds.
The Construction Manager is a key part of the delivery team, reporting to the Project Manager and managing/coordinating all aspects of the construction.
Ensure the work is constructed meet Employer's Requirements and Contractors Proposals;
Completion of company procedural documentation;
Formulating and developing construction programmes and actively monitoring progress against these;
Co-ordination of contractors operations at pre-construction and construction stage;
Proactively support commercial and design teams;
Keep Project Manager fully informed at all times;
Ensure safety risk is eliminated or significantly reduced in construction, ensure that the company safety systems are set up, implemented, and reviewed at all stages;
Set up, implement and monitor quality and environmental systems;
Review all design for build ability and long term durability;
Support CSR BREEAM process and submission;
Leading the construction team;
To support and be familiar with own role and responsibility in respect of Business Continuity Planning. Ensuring that team members are also aware of the plans and communicates same.
Degree/HNC/D level in Construction Management/Surveying or similar;
Experience in the delivery of large projects and particularly in high rise residential, city centre projects;
Experience in the delivery of large scale (£60m plus) D&B projects;
Experience in delivery of high quality civic/schools/office buildings is desirable;
Good knowledge of building and general construction techniques and methodology;
An understanding of the design and procurement process and of contractual matters;
Proven track record and good references;
Proficient use of Microsoft Office packages inc. Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
BREEAM/Sustainability/Environment knowledge and experience;
Hold CSCS card;
CIOB/RICS/ICE or similar membership desirable;
Appropriate SMSTS qualification.
Health & Safety, programme and quality driven with technical construction knowledge and commercial appreciation;
Able to derive, build to and accurately report on both main and short term programmes of work;
Ability to supervise others to achieve tight deadlines;
Strong attention to detail;
Ability to manage, mentor and lead individual members of the construction team;
Effective communication - both written and oral;
Ability to work with and motivate a team;
Ability to seek and take on board feedback and implement corrective action;
Innovative and strong at finding solutions/alternatives;
Previous experience in a similar role.
