Compliance Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our highly successful vegetation management company.

With a large and diverse client portfolio that includes utilities, rail, highways, defence and construction we are looking for a Compliance Officer to play a critical role in ensuring all regulatory and client requirements are maintained whilst assisting with the development and delivery of our strategic objectives. Working with a high level of independence, but as part of a wider assurance team, you will be expected to build up and maintain expert knowledge of the ongoing compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify competency gaps and training requirements and inform Training and HSQE Manager

  • Provide feedback to the Senior Manager and HSQE manager on training needs based upon contract requirements and competence gaps

  • Ensure company operations are carried out in accordance with Client and Company regulations and promptly report any shortfall in performance

  • Manage the selection and use of plant and ensure that such equipment is serviced and maintained as per manufacturer’s instructions and approved maintenance plans to ensure minimum interruption to contract works

  • Maintain and manage accurate records of evidence received and observed, including all maintenance and repairs to equipment

  • Ensure adequate first aid and Fire provisions are available and maintained under the control of a competent person

  • Involvement in the preparation, implementation and continuous reviews of Mechanisation divisions Method Statements, risk assesments and other contract documentation to keep up to date with relevant regulations (with assistance from HSQE Manager as required)

  • Implement measures for Compliance with Contractual and Client requirements in mind

  • Prepare, maintain and implement a competence development programme for all personnel

  • Escalate and feed back in a timely manner, non-compliance areas & key information using appropriate means of communication

  • Identify, escalate and rectify trends of non-compliance to minimise future risk to projects.

Experience Required

  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety (NGC1, NCC1, NCC2)

  • CPCS Card holder Manager or Supervisor

  • CITB National Construction College certificate - Managing and Coordinating Plant

  • First Aid + F

  • PTS (an advantage)

  • Must have worked within compliance for minimum of 3 years within similar industries

  • This role would ideally suit a fast learning self-starter with good IT skill who enjoys both working alone and as part of a team.
