An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Psychiatric Liaison Team based at South Tyneside District Hospital.

The post holder will need to be flexible in their approach, to respond to the needs of the service and demands of a busy acute hospital. The role consists of providing assessment and brief interventions to all age ranges, who are presenting with a range of mental health needs to Sunderland Royal Hospital including self harm and delirium.

This is a 24 hour service, across 7 days, which provides a responsive interface between both NHS and non NHS services including drug and alcohol services and other professions.

We are looking for applications from candidates who have a keen interest in the interplay between physical and mental health needs, within an acute hospital. Experience of working with older adults would be advantageous but not essential. The ideal candidate will be proactive and dynamic with experience of managing high levels of fluid complex risk, and brief psychological interventions.

This is an exciting time for Psychiatric Liaison Services as we continue to expand and adapt to the changing demands in line with local and national drivers
