Communities Officer

A large housing association based in Berkshire are recruiting for a Communities Officer to join their team in either Newbury or Abingdon, to increase grassroots community involvement with their residents.

The Role
The day to day tasks of the role will include being out in the community, door knocking to find community leaders, connectors, and role models, and working with those people to ensure grass roots participation and voice, and then using this understanding to identify the right partners to work with. The Housing Association use IMD to understand issues in that community and focus on the adult and attainment, income and employment domains. The work will be very focused on shifting the results for the next generation. You'll be supporting one newly constituted community group to develop their skills to be successful and sustainable in their vision to deliver adult community learning.

The Candidate
To be successful within this position, you will be an experienced community officer or someone who has worked in the housing sector and be looking to move into a more specialised community role.

The Contract
This is a three month contract with a good chance of being extended, as the role is based within a community project expected to span 2 years. The role is full time, working Monday to Friday.
