Job Title: Communications Manager

Location: Steyning

Salary: £35k

3 month contract

Our client based in Steyning is looking to recruit a Communications Manager. You will be responsible for creating and delivering a comprehensive range of corporate communications activity.


  • Lead and manage the set-up of a communications team
  • Devise and deliver effective external communications campaigns
  • Manage and deliver a core communications service across all online platforms including web, media, digital, press, corporate design and brand development
  • Drive brand awareness, establishing effective working relationships with stakeholders and building networks
  • To improve and develop brand identity standards
  • To develop effective monitoring systems to measure performance and delivery against agreed targets
  • To ensure all external materials are produced to a high and consistent standard that serve to improve the reputation of the organisation, as well as conveying information to relevant audiences
  • To develop effective working relationships with different parts of the organisation, including the Chief Executive, Senior Management Team, Board Members, Programme Directors and Line Managers

  • Build a culture to deliver outcomes with a firm focus on prioritisation and address performance issues resolutely, fairly and promptly
  • Provide focus and energy to drive activity through others and encourage staff to perform effectively during challenging and changing times


  • Holds a degree in a relevant field and/or relevant skills and knowledge
  • Proven ability to lead, support and manage a Communications Team with a diverse range of functions and positions
  • Proven track record and experience of leading, developing and managing a high-performance communication service across a broad portfolio of activity
  • A demonstrated record of success in developing and implementing compelling and successful communications strategies to meet an organisation's strategic objectives, from inception to completion and delivering on target
  • Demonstrated high standard of written and analytical skills, including the ability to translate policy into everyday language for a wide range of audiences
  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to develop effective working relationships, work flexibly across professional and operational boundaries, and communicate professionally with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience of using evaluation tools to improve the effectiveness of communication and campaign activity


  • Experience of providing strategic and reactive communications advice to senior management teams and boards
  • Understanding of government policy in international relations
