Job Details

£38,888 per annum for 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based out of Quadrant Court, Guildford Road, Woking, Surrey GU22 7QQ or County Hall, Penrhyn Road, Kingston-upon-Thames KT1 2DN. This position is based inside one of our main area offices, click HERE and to see a 360 degree view of the building and surrounding area along with a view of the reception.

We are looking for a Commissioning Manager, Learning and Skills to provide maternity cover therefore the role is offered as either a fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.

About the Role

Would you like the opportunity to enable the most vulnerable young people in the county to participate in education, training and employment? Can you secure external funding and buy-in from partners through networking and the development and maintenance of effective professional relationships? Does the challenge of developing new ideas to engage disadvantaged young people appeal to you? If yes, we have the perfect role for you!

You will have a strong understanding of the challenges within the further education sector, current and emerging policies relating to curriculum, educational attainment and progression. Your knowledge will extend beyond full-time education to include pathways such as apprenticeship and traineeships. Our Learning and Skills team manages the relationship with all post-16 training providers and enables the Council to meet its statutory duties in relation to the participation of young people in education and training.

Bringing expertise in the fields of project and contract management, proposal and business case writing, bids and performance analysis, you will research and brief colleagues and members on new policy developments, develop new opportunities to increase participation, particularly among vulnerable groups, and produce team plans to address demographic increases and critical skills shortages. You will be confident in working with a range of partners and organisations, including private sector employers, local government agencies, funding bodies and charitable and voluntary organisations and able to adapt your communication style accordingly.

Reporting to and working closely with the Principal Commissioning Manager, Learning and Skills, you will have a varied role and the chance to make it your own.
