We have a super new role with a leading, global educational publisher for an experienced ELT professional, to commission and develop high quality secondary ELT content (print and digital) from concept development through to publication. This is a highly responsible and crucial role within the secondary ELT team and the Commissioning Editor will commission authors and contributors, whilst working closely with overseas markets, marketing and the in-house project team, to develop high quality material.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with relevant stakeholders to schedule and plan market research
  • Conduct market research to ensure the project meets the publishing vision
  • Develop the course concept, including component list and briefs
  • Identify appropriate authors and contributors
  • Commission and work with authors and contributors in the development of material
  • With the Publisher, prepare costings, forecasts, specifications and business case for P&L approval
  • Manage performance, training and development of staff, working closely with the Publishing Planning Manager and the Learning and Development team

The successful person will have:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of the ELT markets and segments
  • Strong ELT publishing experience at project leadership level
  • Formal ELT/TEFL qualification and a proven track record of successful ELT/EFL product development
  • An understanding of the publishing process and technologies
  • A minimum of three years ELT teaching experience
  • Experience of working with a range of new media
