Commis Chef

As well as working at Sizergh Cafe, you will also work some shifts at our neighbouring property, Fell Foot (LA12 8NN), which is approximately ten miles from Sizergh. The Boathouse Cafe on the shores of Lake Windermere is busy seven days a week throughout the summer season, serving brunch, hot and cold snacks, cakes, ice creams and beverages from the National Trust Cookbook.

What it's like to work here

Sizergh is an imposing medieval house situated at the gateway to the Lake District. The 1,600-acre estate includes our largest limestone rock garden and a national collection of ferns. Restoration projects within the house and garden have created opportunities in all areas, particularly within the extensive gardening operation and visitor experience. This is a lively property with a varied events programme and thriving café, and the property are looking for team members with energy and enthusiasm.

What you'll be doing

With your love of food and your appetite to provide an exceptional service to your customers, you’ll work with the National Trust Cookbook framework to prepare delicious food. You’ll always be looking to maximise income opportunities by minimising waste and controlling costs and resources. With your attention to detail you’ll ensure each dish is fresh, tasty and beautifully presented every time.

To make this happen we need to ensure our kitchens are presented to the highest standard and are compliant with all relevant legislation around food hygiene and COSHH. You will work effectively with the team to deliver great results. You may also b
