Commercial Manager

We are currently seeking a Commercial Manager, based at our Head Office in Newton-Le-Willows.

Job Purpose / Primary Objective:

Operational spend control

Experience (essential)

  • Minimum 5 years plus experience in a similar position.

  • IT: Holds excellent IT skills to use Logo soft, and the complete suite of Microsoft software including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel and Power point
  • Communication: Communicate effectively and professionally at all levels - being polite, helpful and diligent, with a 'can do’ attitude and strong engagement and negotiation skills
  • Service: Have the focus and proven ability to deliver the highest standard of customer service with key stakeholders. The drive and motivational skills to solicit the right responses from colleagues and drive their development to underpin effective efficient and innovative service solutions
  • Personality: Great work ethic, professional, diligent and determined, possessing vision and excellent business acumen and a strategic outlook
  • Qualifications: Holds appropriate commercial qualifications

What does success look like?

General Responsibilities

  • Be our commercial specialist, sharing knowledge and expertise to support customers and colleagues
  • Implement robust processes and oversee compliance (how we do business - Commercial Dept.)
  • Manage and oversee critical business commercial information. Samples include:
  • Understand contract by contract profit margins
  • Manage P&L recovery plans
  • Pay, charge & hours, commercial variations (SA07)
  • Pay, charge and hours processing (NBE)
  • Pay & charge access right control
  • Annual review process and control (contractual, inflation legislation)
  • Operational spend control (holiday spend, CSP & SSP, expenses, contract training, 3rd party, consumables, contract equipment, uniform, hotels & travel, headcount)
  • Introduce innovative software and smarter ways of working
  • Good administration
  • Communication policy compliance
  • Regular performance progress reporting (monthly) against Job Description

People Management:

  • Identify and acquire the best talent possible and form a TEAM
  • Lead from the front and by example
  • Mentor, develop, motivate and inspire your team to be competent, compliant, confident and empowered brand ambassadors
  • Open & effective communication and develop trust
  • Constructive management of conflicts
  • Encourage collaborative problem solving and individual "right" decision making
  • Retention and satisfaction of colleagues through excellent welfare, performance and target appraisals and personal development to enhance their skill set


  • Understand our business, structure, departments, customers, processes and systems
  • Agree performance targets/metrics/goals and milestones
  • Identify areas of improvement and innovations and smarter ways of working

Brand Protection

  • Knowledge, regulation, implementation and compliance of Kingdom management systems for:
  • Quality -Health and Safety - Environmental - Employment law
  • Other appropriate manuals, policies, processes and procedures and business strategy

Salary: £40,000.00 /year
