This established and expanding trade body brings together a thriving network of tens of thousands of members and related businesses. it delivers conferences, talks, online sessions and resources that help people connect, grow and stay inspired within their field. The organisation’s ethos is built on openness and integrity, proving that commercial success doesn't have to come at the expense of long-term relationships . As they look to scale, they’re seeking someone who can turn this momentum into a sustainable, strategic commercial function.

The Role

As their first dedicated Commercial Lead, you’ll take ownership of partnerships, sponsorships and income generation across all activities, from in-person events, conferences and digital advertising to publications, podcasts and hosted dinners.

You’ll be both architect and operator, setting the commercial direction while actively building relationships and securing long-term value for the organisation and its partners. It’s a hands-on role for someone who enjoys creating structure, identifying opportunities and making things happen. The onus is on the long-term, so if you're all about next quarter's commission payment and/or Jordan Belfort is your idol, this role is not for you! Over time you will benefit from consolidating and nurturing relationships with existing advertising and sponsorship contacts as well as bringing more on board.

Key Responsibilities – Commercial Lead
  • Develop and manage the full commercial pipeline, prospecting, pitching, closing and nurturing long-term partnerships
  • Build clear, scalable frameworks for partnership and sponsorship activity across all channels and events
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate partners in a way that adds genuine value to members
  • Track and report on performance, forecasting income and optimising systems to drive efficiency and growth
  • Identify new opportunities for income generation, piloting creative approaches and revenue models
  • Represent the organisation externally, building trusted relationships with current and future partners
  • Over time, support the growth of a small but capable team around the commercial function
Your Background – Commercial Lead

You’ll be a commercially minded relationship-builder who balances strategic thinking with a practical, get-things-done attitude. You understand that long-term success comes from authenticity and trust as much as hitting quarterly targets. Perhaps you come from a membership or not-for-profit organisation; an events business; maybe media or sports - nothing is set in stone here.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Proven experience in partnerships, business development or commercial leadership
  • Evidence of taking opportunities from idea to contract, delivering measurable results
  • A proactive, self-starting approach, comfortable shaping new processes and testing ideas
  • The ability to think broadly and commercially, not just in short-term sales cycles
  • Strong relationship and communication skills, approachable, engaging and genuine
  • A collaborative mindset, comfortable working across teams and disciplines
  • Ambition, curiosity and the confidence to grow with an evolving organisation
What’s in it for you?
  • The chance to shape and lead the commercial future of a respected professional community
  • A supportive, flexible and purpose-driven culture that values ideas and individuality
  • Remote-first working with occasional travel for key events and meetings
  • Competitive salary of up to around £50,000 (depending on experience) plus uncapped commission - first year OTE £75,000 to £100,000, following years higher.
  • Real autonomy and visibility, this is a role where your impact will be seen and felt
