Commercial Contracts Engineer (Customer, Operations, Sales Orders, Liaison)

Contracts Engineer with hands-on practical experience of electro-mechanical equipmentrequired by world leading manufacturer of specialist high-tech low-volume electronic and electromechanical systems to be the primary contact between the company and its’ customer base, receiving and processing the majority of sales orders received at Head Office, providing key customer service and prime input to the Operations Department, ensuring that customer expectations are meet by processing and interpreting their sales orders promptly and accurately, and by representing the interests of the customer within the company.

He/she should also provide such liaison as is necessary between internal departments in order to service customer enquiries and to ensure accurate interpretation of the order at all stages of production.

Main Responsibilities:

  • A principle point of contact with customers for all queries relating to sales orders
  • Liaise between internal departments to facilitate all aspects of customer service and with all departments in ensuring that the provisions of the sales order are accurately observed at all stages of process
  • All aspects of information concerning order progress in response to customer enquiries
  • Assistance when required in the training of other departmental personnel, and in the introduction of new systems and procedures
  • Insurance that relevant Health and Safety procedures are observed at all times
  • Project meetings where Contracts attendance is required
  • Meetings at customer's premises to discuss technical or commercial issues relating to order specification
  • Meet visiting customers or their representatives, and provide necessary liaison between them and internal departments
  • Register and process all sales orders into the business system (MTMS) to the point of transfer of data to MRP and ensure that all data entered into the business system (MTMS) accurately reflects the requirements of the sales order
  • To accept and review the Order Confirmation, ensuring the accuracy of all data contained within it.
  • The provision of diagrams, drawings and plans as required by the conditions of the order
  • Contract Review meetings and attend where such meetings are warranted by the complexity of the order

Candidate Specification:

  • Good general education (numerate and literate
  • BTEC National Certificate or Modern Apprenticeship (desirable)
  • Minimum 1 -2 Years experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment (desirable)
  • Experience in a contractual environment (desirable)
  • Good technical, mechanical and electrical knowledge (desirable)
  • Knowledge of international business practices (desirable)
  • Sales experience (desirable)
  • Experience in a contractual environment (desirable)
  • Understanding implications of contract law (desirable)
  • I.T skills - Microsoft Office
  • Organisational skills - able to prioritise
  • Excel, Word, Outlook (Desirable)
  • Negotiation skills (desirable)
