Gap personnel are currently recruiting for CNC Setters to work for our client based in Pontypool, this work does require relevant experience and is ideal for someone who wants to join a team and grow within a business.

Job Description:

CNC Setter - Precision

Working within a team of 3/4 in a manufacturing cell to produce quality parts as per specification

Setting machines to manufacture critical precision heavy duty brake, clutch and transmission parts

Selecting correct tooling for machines/job and setting up

Setting Boring machines in what is a critical due to the precision nature of the work, tolerances are to +/-0.2-0.5.

Adjusting set up/off sets of machines to ensure products manufactured meet the correct technical specifications to the job/product.

Ensuing that the tooling is continuing to run correctly whilst in the production cycles and if necessary to identify and make changes to ensure the product is manufactured to specification.

Machine/tooling changeovers and setting for the next job as is needed

In process quality checks/gauging

Essential Skills

Previous work experience in a precision engineering/manufacturing environment within a similar role, or using similar skills is essential

Ability to read, understand and interpret technical drawings

Experience of setting machines, selecting tooling, checking tooling during manufacturing cycles

Experience of setting machines within a precision engineering environment

Experience of using measuring equipment such as gauges.

Hours & Days of Work

Monday-Friday shifts rotate weekly on the 3 cycles.

Occasional overtime will be required in the needs of the business.

Mornings: Monday - Thursday 06:00 - 14:00, Friday 06:00 - 13:30

Afternoons: Monday - Thursday 14:00 - 22:00, Friday 13:30 - 21:00

Nights: Monday - Thursday 22:00 - 06:00, Friday 21:00 - 04:30 Sat morning

Hours & Days of Work

Monday-Friday shifts rotate weekly on the 3 cycles.

Occasional overtime will be required in the needs of the business.

Mornings: Monday - Thursday 06:00 - 14:00, Friday 06:00 - 13:30

Afternoons: Monday - Thursday 14:00 - 22:00, Friday 13:30 - 21:00

Nights: Monday - Thursday 22:00 - 06:00, Friday 21:00 - 04:30 Sat morn.

Pay Rate

Variable to skill level of successful applicants.

Lower skill £10 per hour

Higher Skill Up to £13 per hour

Overtime of time & half is paid after 37 hours of work completed in a week.

Assessment Process:

Initial process will be a skype/outlook interview :

This will be to ascertain English levels and suitability for the role

There will be a technical drawing assessment to demonstrate understanding of key areas

The client will ascertain technical knowledge and skills through questioning and running through examples of work.

There will also be a general work history conversation to ensure that applicants have worked in suitable roles within their career.

If the client is satisfied that applicants are suitable we will then arrange travel once start date at site is confirmed.
