CNC Machinist

Job Title: Machine Operator

Salary: £12.50 per hour

Location: Burgess Hill

Duration: Temporary Ongoing

Hours: 4-On-4-Off Shift Pattern

We are working with a very well established engineering company who are seeking a CNC Machinist to join their Burgess Hill based team. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking all of the requirements of the Machine Shop Operator.

The core duties include but are not limited to:

  • Be able to interpret a production plan
  • Have the ability to carry out CNC machine manufacturing tasks
  • Be able to read and understand CNC programs using the machine interface including component drawings, process specifications and standard operating procedures
  • Fully set and operate new technology: 5 axis, 4 axis and multi turret CNC lathes in a cellular environment
  • Facilitate 24/7 machine utilisation; set-up the CNC machine tools in order to achieve an optimum duration of unmanned running time
  • In-batch and in-process inspection of components
  • Preventive maintenance tasks
  • Co-ordinate measuring machines, contour machines, surface finish equipment, calipers, micrometers, height gauges and dial test indicators
  • Ability to inspect and use Pressure checking equipment, magnetic particle inspection equipment, paint finishing inspection equipment
  • Operate degreasing equipment
  • Spraying of all assembled components of various sizes with primer, finishing coatings and lacquers
  • To undertake any other duties as required

Key skills required:

  • Thorough experience in multi axis CNC machine tools, milling and turning
  • Thorough experience of reading component drawings
  • Excellent experience in inspection of component parts, assembled parts and inspection equipment usage
  • Solid experience of cutting tool technology / appropriate tool usage
  • Good experience of assembling small detail assemblies
  • Good experience of paint and lacquer spraying including inspection processes
  • Recognised Engineering apprenticeship to recognised external qualification (City and guilds / I.T.B / NVQ's)
  • National tech certificate engineering
  • Must be willing to work a 4-On-4-Off shift pattern
