My client are looking for a CMM Programmer under the supervision of the Internal Audit and operation inspection plans, develops, and performs prove out (first off's) of CMM inspection programs for complex parts, components, and assemblies. The incumbent is required to determine how to verify both new and complex machined features. The individual is also expected to programme and operate the CMM for First Article Inspection activities as part of the New Product Introduction activities as well as supporting SPC within the business.

Key accountabilities:
In the context of Item 1, list 5-8 major outcomes that this job is expected to deliver through time.

Create CMM programs on Calypso software that ensures ease of data transfer within the group.

Create CMM programs on Calypso and Cosmos software that are capable of delivering data directly into QDAS.

He/She will be responsible for development and maintenance of the "user interface" which allows production employees to operate the CMM.

He/She will provide training to machinists, quality auditors, and technicians on the CMM operation

He/She must be capable of developing CMM programs both at the CMM by "learn programming" and "off-line" at a computer aided inspection station (CAI).

Be able to conceptualise engineering design requirements and translate these concepts into coordinate measuring machine motions (perform prove outs). The incumbent must work concurrently with Design Engineers to specify datum's, and drawing call out conventions which are compatible with CMM inspection practices and capabilities.

Supports Manufacturing Engineers resolve elusive manufacturing problems and minimise inspection errors.

Troubleshoots, debugs and resolves compatibility issues using problem solving techniques that will require him/her to interface with Design, Manufacturing, Product, and Quality Engineers as well as Inspection Supervision, Inspectors, Quality Auditors, and Production Supervisors.

What background (education or experience), skills and competencies are typical of successful job holders?
The incumbent must have a fundamental understanding of programming logic. +
NVQ-3, or BTEC National Certificate achieved within an indentured apprenticeship and "relevant experience" (see below), OR
HNC/HND and 3 years "experience" OR
Equivalent GCSE "A" Level study; and 5 years of experience
The incumbent must have above average knowledge of Manufacturing, Fabrication and Measurement techniques.
The incumbent must have a demonstrated aptitude to work with a range of specialist supportive tools - previous experience of Calypso, Mitutoyo COSMOS and QDAS as described.
