Virgin Money’s quest to build a better bank is underway with the build of the Virgin Money Digital Bank (VMDB). We’re looking for dynamic people that have the ambition to shape the business they will one day be responsible for running.
We’re now on the search for a Cloud Security Engineer to technically deliver and support VMDB’s cloud platform including the security, storage, compliance, deployment and overall platform optimisation. In this pivotal role, you’ll design, develop and implement VMDB’s cloud environment and work closely with the wider VMDB technology team to ensure alignment of requirements and the delivery of a world class cloud environment. You’ll provide solution architectures, engineering standards and implantation guidance to internal cloud architecture and engineering teams in the design and implementation of cloud services.
You’ll use your expertise in cyber and cloud security to enhance our cyber security solutions to mitigate ongoing threats without impacting customer experience, by designing and building a frictionless customer security journey and process. You’ll establish close working relationships with third party suppliers and the VM Customer and Colleague Protection function to ensure alignment of policies and standards. You’ll also work with other stakeholders to educate cyber security risk and priorities security initiatives in line with risk and financial management processes. Bringing external cyber and cloud security best practice to VMDB, you’ll help us keep abreast of new technologies and 3rd parties that may pose a security threat.
Beyond launch, you’ll continually review and refine the cloud environment and continue to champion the cloud environment DevSecOps automation practises within VMDB. You’ll play a lead role in the developing and designing of security controls and standards for other Saas or PaaS based enterprise cloud products. You’ll partner effectively at all levels of the technology organisation and with business partners to ensure that new or existing cyber security controls are implemented in a way that enables the business while providing adequate protections.
To be successful in this role, you’ll be educated to degree level in Computer Science, or a related discipline with equivalent work experience. You’ll have advanced knowledge and understanding of security engineering, system and network security authentication and security protocols and experience with AWS services. You’ll also be accustomed with vulnerability testing as well as multiple programming languages such as Java, C++, C# and scripting languages such as Python, Ruby and Perl etc

Salary: £36,500 - £55,500 per annum depending on experience, plus amazing benefits
