A reputable financial organisation based in Brighton are seeking a talented and passionate Cloud Engineer to provide technical leadership, champion agile practices, advocate for DevOps approaches and work with other team members to translate high level requirements into epics, stories and tasks.
You will be responsible for build and configuration work for both projects and general improvements to the core Azure platform. Your responsibility on larger projects will be to oversee work carried out by our outsourced infrastructure teams and to provide best-practice guidance.
Your key responsibilities will include..
Developing/proving patterns using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) & Configuration-as-Code (CaC) approaches such as Terraform and Ansible for implementation by outsource (onshore/offshore) teams to allow fail-fast exploration of best practice approaches
Applying experience to guide outsource teams to ensure they adhere to our standards and best practices
Building IaC/CaC and pipelines to deliver smaller projects and continuous improvement of the core platform
Diagnosing problems and develop remediations as part of providing level 3 escalation for our support team for systemic issues so that services remain secure, resilient and fit for purpose
Providing guidance and leadership to support project teams from formational stages (preliminary designs, estimation) and throughout the development lifecycle to ensure that infrastructure deliverables meet requirements.
Providing advice to development teams to support the roll out of DevOps pipelines, automation and infrastructure as code as part of our overall adoption of DevOps practices
What we're looking for
You will have direct hands-on technical knowledge of at least one of the major public cloud providers such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform
You will have a proven background in System Administration fundamentals including networking, Windows and Linux configuration, and web server stacks.
You'll have experience in modern DevOps methodologies and pipelines
You'll have experience with networking and web standards such as DNS, HTTP, web security mechanisms, proxies, firewalls & application delivery controllers
You will have proven experience with continuous build and integration tools and IaC/CaC technologies (Jenkins, Git, Azure DevOps, Ansible, Terraform)
You'll have experience with containerisation technologies (Docker, Kubernetes/AKS)
You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to successfully engage and influence senior stakeholders and a broad range of individuals across various disciplines
