Cloud and Development Operations Engineer

We are looking for a hands-on Development Operations Engineer to deliver cloud platform design/ build/ test services and application integration/ deployment services to internal customers within the organisation. This position will be based in Crawley or Surbiton and some travel between sites will be expected. This is a technical role and you will seek to continuously improve DevOps best practice in collaboration with your team - integrating cloud team practices and processes with the Application Development teams where beneficial. Collaborating with teams/ individuals elsewhere in the business who have Cloud/ DevOps skills and responsibilities, you will be part of an effective Cloud/ DevOps community, leveraging open source technologies, wherever possible, to deliver service and cost benefits, whilst staying up-to-date on cloud platforms, DevOps and WebOps technologies/ practices and translating these opportunities into actionable, deliverable benefits.

The successful applicant to this role will join an established Travel Company as part of a multi-brand development team committed to delivering and managing high quality work in the AWS and Acquia cloud platforms as well, as refinement of the tools and services that support our pipeline. A structured, methodical approach will be essential as we continue to expand the services we offer as a team and increase the value we bring to the business.

What you will be doing:

- Providing a center of excellence for cloud platform/ DevOps services in AWS, On-Prem and Acquia SaaS

- Providing cloud architecture/ design services to deliver cloud platforms that are elastic, highly available, secure and cost effective

- Providing automated build services to ensure a consistent, secure build of cloud platforms - including the provision and maintenance of an effective, automated cloud platform build tooling suite

- Providing DevOps services to support a continuous integration/ deployment model - including the provision and maintenance of an effective DevOps tooling suite

- Providing WebOps services to ensure smooth and effective, SLA bound cloud platform operations - including some structured and compensated out of hours support

- Working with project delivery teams to collaboratively ensure successful project outcomes

- Working with development team to collaboratively support the (frequent) applications release process

- Working with service management teams to collaboratively deliver ITIL based functions - e.g. incident & problem management; change management; capacity management

- Creating and maintaining a cloud strategy, documentation and associated roadmaps

- Creating and delivering cloud related training to colleagues across the IT teams

- Testing cloud platforms to ensure availability, performance and security

What we are looking for:

- A minimum of two years technical Cloud Platform based DevOps and/or WebOps delivery experience

- "By Default" use of provisioning and deployment automation tools

- Good verbal and written communication skills

- A good understanding of how to design and deliver cost effective cloud platforms that are highly available, performant & elastic and secure

- Delivery experience involving the following technologies (essential):

. AWS services (ideally including EC2; S3; EBS; VPC; ELB; RDS; Elasticache; Beanstalk; CloudFormation; IAM; Cloudwatch)

. Acquia Cloud / Drupal 8

. Linux Administration

. Atlassian Jira

. Jenkins & Puppet


. GitHub and GitLab

- Delivery experience of one or more of the following technologies or hold the following credentials (desirable):

. Docker and/or Kubernetes Container platforms

. ELK Stack

. Zabbix

. Chef

. Terraform

. Atlassian Confluence

. AWS certification(s)

. MS Azure certifications(s)

. Acquia certification(s)

. ITIL certification(s)

. TOGAF certifications(s)

. JavaScript / node.js / Python Experience
