We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to assist in delivery of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Teaching within the Emergency Dept of a friendly busy district general University hospital. It is anticipated that around 8 - 12 hours per week will be devoted to teaching activities based within the Emergency Department and will focus on teaching medical students who rotate to University Hospital Crosshouse.
Commencing 1st August 2018 for a period of 12 months you will be encouraged to undertake clinical research and / or audit projects in Ayrshire. These activities will be supported through a mentorship programme and successful candidates will receive up to ?2500 pa pro rata to support agreed development activities in their chosen area of interest. This can be used to fund a certificate course in medical education with Dundee University is available for candidates preferring to develop an education portfolio (as an alternative to clinical research / audit).
This post will have a negotiable commitment to clinical duties (anticipated approximately 24-32 hours per week) although anti-social hours will be limited to facilitate other teaching requirements.
Crosshouse University hospital is located in the beautiful countryside of Ayrshire but only a 35 minute easy commute from Glasgow. We have paediatrics on site and children make up 20% of attendances to the ED.
The appointment will be whole time for the duration of 12 months (or 6 months on discussion) commencing 1st August 2018. A 40% pay supplement will be paid to recognise contribution to out of hours working and emergency duty commitments and will be based on a salary range of ?31220 - ?41305. The posts are not recognised for training. Applicants must hold Full GMC Registration with a current Licence to Practice. Excellent communication skills are essential. You will have an interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education and a drive to achieve a higher degree (MD). This post is not educationally approved by the Postgraduate Dean.
