Clinical Psychologist (Neuropsychology)

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinical psychologist who has been working in the field of paediatric neuropsychology. We currently have a position of 0.6 sessions (Band 8a) to provide neuropsychological support to our Children’s Epilepsy Surgery Team.

The Birmingham CESS is a well-established, dynamic and well regarded team and is one of four designated specialist teams to provide surgery for children and young people who have epilepsy.

You will join a team of neuropsychologists and clinical psychologists who provide neuropsychological assessments prior to and following brain surgery. We also provide psychological support to families along this pathway in terms of individual and group work and consultation with our clinical nurse specialist colleagues.

We are keen to support active research in this area, and are fortunate to have established links with nearby universities in Birmingham, and in particular, with Aston University who have a strong research interest in this area. Where possible, we have supported individuals to work towards their Qualification in Paediatric Neuropsychology, and are able to offer supervision in this respect.

We are part of a larger team within Birmingham Children’s Hospital. The Health in Mind Team is a vibrant and well respected team of Clinical & Neuropsychologists, Learning Disability Liaison Nurses and a Liaison Psychiatrist, with highly valued support from Assistant Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Student Nurses.

We value to opportunity to provide a supportive environment in which to work. There will therefore also be opportunities to undertake individual and group work, including children and young people who have epilepsy and other neurological disorders.
