An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist for a 1-year fixed term. The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), who has extensive experience working with service users with Personality disorder presentation to join Springbank unit.

Springbank is a 12-bed in-patient recovery unit for women with a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD) who are struggling to cope with the demands of life outside of the hospital, despite the input from community psychiatric services. Our ward provides an environment that offers 24-hour support with a strong recovery focus. Our aim is to help people improve their resilience against stress and their quality of life. We do this by teaching important skills, such as mindfulness, and offering evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT).

This post is central to the delivery of clinically based support, education, training, and development of the nursing team. Working in partnership with the Ward Manager, Service Manager, and the Deputy Head of Nursing. The post holder will develop and embed evidence-based clinical nursing practice within the team through the implementation and facilitation of clinically based education, training, and skills development for the clinical team.

We are looking for a Clinical Nurse Specialist who is able to demonstrate a commitment to creative engagement with a culturally diverse population of our service group, shows initiative, demonstrates excellent leadership skills, is a team player and is able to communicate ideas clearly to both professionals and those who use our service.

You would be working alongside Psychologist and Psychiatrist colleagues with excellent opportunities for peer support and learning, as well as being expected to access clinical and professional supervision through the well-defined systems we have in place.

The post will offer varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through an appraisal. Extensive post qualifying experience working within multidisciplinary inpatient and community settings and evidence of accredited courses in DBT, MBT and mental health practice are essential criteria for this post.
