Band 7 (0.6 wte) OR Band 8a (0.5 wte) Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologist

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a clinical, cousnelling or forensic psychologist to join the multidisciplinary team at Wood Lea Clinic, a 10 bed male Low Secure Unit for adults with learning disabilities. The team provides effective clinical risk management and supports the recovery pathway for service users with forensic histories or significant risk profiles. The post-holder will take on the role of ward psychologist for the unit, providing psychological assessments as well as individual and group interventions to service users presenting with a range of complex risk behaviours and forensic needs.

The post offers significant opportunities for training and development and the successful candidate would be supported to gain and develop skills in specialist forensic assessments required for the role, as well as to develop and expand upon appropriate therapeutic skills. The post represents an exciting opportunity to take an active role in service development and would suit qualified psychologists enthusiastic about developing within the field of forensic learning disabilities.

The role provides good links with the EPUT Secure Services Psychology Department, which compromises clinical, counselling and forensic psychologists, forensic and clinical trainee psychologists, assistant psychologists and psychology placement students. EPUT Secure Services encompasses Wood Lea Clinic, Brockfield House (a 98 bed Medium Secure Unit in Wickford, Essex), Edward House (a 20 bed Low Secure unit in Chelmsford), and Robin Pinto Unit (a 18 bed Low Secure Unit in Luton). Video conferencing facilities between sites are also used to assist departmental communication.

Appontment at Band 7 or Band 8a will be dependent on experience.
