Clinical Academic Senior Nurse
NHS Lothian Royal Edinburgh and Associated Services in partnership with The School of Health and Social Care at Edinburgh Napier University are seeking to appoint 2 Clinical Academic Senior Mental Health Nurses on a full time fixed term basis. These are exciting new roles aimed at building the clinical research capacity across mental health nursing within defined inpatient service areas in Royal Edinburgh Hospital whilst also joining a small team of active researchers and lecturers who deliver undergraduate modules in nursing and wider issues in the School of Health & Social Care. The posts are also aimed at strengthening the theory practice interface through clinical practice driven research.
Post 1: Mental Health Rehabilitation and Complex Care Needs
Post 2: Mental Health in Later Life
Contracted Hours 37.5hrs worked flexibly 5 days over a 7 day working week (clinical practice days will be worked on an day / early / late shift pattern with occasional weekend working)
Contracted Term: Fixed for 2 years initially

The post holders will be highly experienced and credible practitioners in the field of practice with relevant clinical research experience. The posts offer suitably skilled and motivated individuals opportunities to continue to work clinically at a senior practice and professional leadership level whilst also being able to maintain and develop their academic and teaching experience and skills. You will be educated to Masters Level with a willingness to undertake Doctoral study. You will be employed on a full time contract by NHS Lothian under Agenda for Change terms and conditions of service and through a service level agreement with Edinburgh Napier University 50% of the contracted hours will be worked within the University based at Sighthill Campus. Post holders will work to objectives jointly agreed between NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Napier University. Appointment will be made on a fixed term basis of two years initially.
Experience in teaching Mental Health Nursing and experience in research is essential. Publication would be an advantage. The post holder will be involved with supporting students in their practice placement areas and contribution to the examination and moderation of programme topics is also required as is the academic support of students.
