Claims handler (Cross Boarder)

Part of our clients service is the investigation of third party motor claims which show a level of fraud indicators.

They are looking to recruit a Claims Handler to work in our Cross Border team. The successful applicant will be responsible for handling and settling claims while delivering a positive customer experience.

You will do this by:

·Processing work chronologically and/or in order of priority, and to help out other claims handlers to ensure that this is achieved when necessary

·Dealing with all aspects of claims handling including letter writing, telephone contact, diary management, valuation, negotiation and settlement of the following types of claim / loss:

·Loss or damage to property

·Moderate injury

·Fatal claims of minor complexity

·Intermediate heads of claim

·Advanced liability Issues


·Acting as a key referral point to less experienced claims staff

·Keeping up to date with good claims practice and champion this throughout the team

·Acting within set handling authorities as defined by the Claims Authorities Matrix

The successful candidate will already have a level 4 of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF), which is equivalent to: Certificates of Higher Education, CII Level 4 Diploma, NVQ Level 4 or ILM4 Diploma in Coaching and Mentoring or Management.

You should also have:

·A good understanding and application of the agreements and claims handling processes / procedures, gained from experience of working as a Grade 9 Claims Handler or similar. This should include:

·Internal Regulations of the Council of Bureaux

·EU Directives and Regulations

·Applicable law and jurisdiction issues

·Uninsured Drivers Agreement and/or

·Untraced Drivers Agreement and /or

·The Road Traffic Act

·Article 75

·The ability to use the AS400 or similar system as well as Microsoft based products

·Understanding of the the expert valuation system within the operating criteria, and fully appreciate the need and benefits of the same

·A very good understanding of motor insurance and claims principles in general

·A very good understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and company stance on litigation
