We are currently recruiting for a number of Claims Assistants to join us until the end of August 2018. You will join our Claims Department who are responsible for being the first point of contact for customers seeking to make a claim on their buildings, contents, possessions, travel or motor insurance.
The team work with customers to build a picture of the loss and the circumstances surrounding it, using this information to form an initial value judgement on the validity of the claim, and decide on an appropriate course of action.
The team pride themselves on providing a high level of customer service throughout the claims process and ensure we meet our aims of maximising customer retention, maximising the prompt settlement of genuine claims, and minimising fraud.
The Claims Assistant positions are challenging and varied, as it involves dealing with a huge range of customers and an infinite number of possible scenarios in which people could make a claim.
A typical day in the role will involve investigating and negotiating the settlement of claims in a cost effective and efficient manner. You will be liaising with solicitors and customers on a daily basis. Dealing with your own caseload you will be handling individual cases from submission to settlement.
You will initially develop knowledge through a training programme designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills required to undertake the position successfully. This will include modules on the principles of insurance, indemnity and liability, together with training on how the claims process works, and on the different types of policy we offer.
We are looking for candidates with outstanding communication skills and a real focus on providing excellent customer service. You will be an excellent listener, able to deal with customers with empathy and understanding, while remaining constantly alert to people whose claims may appear suspicious. You will need to be able to think quickly, creatively and laterally, demonstrating the mental agility required to manage a broad range of different circumstances and scenarios.
You will be confident and have the ability to challenge customers professionally when required. You will need to be highly organised with close attention to detail, able to juggle a number of different cases at any one time, and have the capacity to absorb the technical information needed to be successful in this role.
You’ll hold a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at A - C grade (or equivalent), including English and Maths. Previous claims experience would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
