CHP Site Maintenance Engineer

Multi skilled CHP Site Maintenance Engineer (mainly Mechanical) with a basic understanding of electrical Connection and fault finding required .The candidate would be mainly based at a site in Faversham, Kent to maintain 6 Cummins Gas Engines (generating sets) and all Auxiliaries involved at a Combined Heat and Power plant installation for a commercial greenhouse grower. The candidate would also be willing to very occasionally travel to some of Essex sites to fill in for other employee’s absence/ holidays etc.

The candidate would be given two to three months training on the machinery depending on experience before they are able to work independently. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is highly organised and self-motivated, who can adopt routine procedures and who has an attention for detail. There is also a requirement to enter into a weekend call out rota (I weekend in 4).

Duties of the CHP Site Maintenance Engineer will include: • Routine servicing of equipment, including gas engine, generator, CO2 Catalyst and heat recovery systems. • Breakdown repairs. • Fault finding on equipment. • Identification of parts required to resolve fault issues. • Completion of Record Documentation and Job Sheets. The successful candidate will report to the Area Supervisor and respond to company remote Service Desk and will be able to communicate well at all levels, with Directors, other work colleagues, suppliers and customers.

You should have prior experience in this type of work and be qualified to a minimum of ONC / City and Guilds in mechanical engineering (Mechanically bias preferred). A basic understanding of electrical connection/fault finding would be ideal. You should have a full clean driving licence and be computer literate, being competent in the use of Excel/Word/Outlook. Basic salary of up to £34000 pa with a further £6000 pa earned through payments for on call standby duty and overtime payments on out of hours call out. Full time hours are 8 per day, normally 8.00 am - 5.00 pm, Monday to Friday. Holidays are 25 pa plus statutory and the client contributes 3% to the employee’s 1% for Pension. A company funded van and mobile phone is also provided as well as any specialist tools.
