Would you like to be a Children’s Support Worker, or a Senior Support Worker, in an expanding home in the Bristol area?
This job is in a rural location, but is an easy commute from Weston Supermare (35 mins), Bristol (26 mins) , Severn Beach (10mins), and Chippenham (37 mins). We will only be putting forward people with a full driving licence, as part of the role will be taking the children out in the company vehicles.
Our client provides 10 fantastic places to care for young people (8-19) who are on the autistic spectrum and require round the clock assistance. They’ve just undergone a multimillion pound investment so that they can help even more.
Would you like to use your experience working with children and young people with autism or other communication difficulties to help children alongside a company who are always trying to give these children a fun and fulfilling childhood? When we are talking with our client everyone speaks highly of the CEO, who founded the company with the vision: "We can do better, we can make a difference." They want to make real, ground breaking change in how we help people with communication difficulties.
As Children’s Support Worker, you could help someone like David*:
"My name is David* and I am 10. I live in a newly done-up house with 4 of my close friends, they're great- though we can fall out sometimes, not that it's for long. I have autism and get really anxious a lot. I get upset when people don't understand me, and then I might cry or hit out. I don't mean to hurt myself or others- I just get frustrated that's all. My Support Worker, *Em has been helping me with how to communicate , we use makaton or PECS cards and I can point to them when I need things. Some days I like to be on my own which that isn't really good for me. I have a another Support Worker called Janice*, she comes helps me in the mornings and tells me funny stories. She gets me ready for the day and helps me take my medicine. Then she takes me to school- we get to do so many cool things there!
Then there's Phillip*, he comes to see me later and helps me do my homework and cook tea. We made pizzas yesterday! We do different things every night, like going outside to explore or look at the garden, or we go swimming. My best thing is when we just chill out in the sensory room. He reads me a bedtime story and makes sure I’m cosy before turning off my light. I like Emily,Janice, and Philip, they're really nice. They help me a lot and we have so much fun!"
