Prophet Care Recruitment are currently looking for outgoing and caring individuals for a permanent support worker role within a children’s specialist residential home in Hertfordshire. The home provides education and support for children ages 5-19 with complex needs.
Experience is not essential but is extremely desirable, as our client will fully support you with 6 days orientation and on-going training, monthly one to ones with your manager and regular meetings with your qualification assessor for support and guidance, whilst gaining a level 3 qualification in Health & Social care, if you do not already have this.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
1-year experience in working with children and young people who have learning disabilities and other needs is desired
NVQ 3 in Care desired but not essential An understanding of the needs of children and young people with learning disabilities
Experience of providing care to people with learning disabilities
Physically fit and able to undertake safe manual handling practices
Good verbal and written communication skills
Good telephone manner and good level of spoken English
Observant and sensitive to a Service User who needs Ability to work autonomously and productively as part of a team
Knowledge of food hygiene/manual handling/health & safety standards and practices
