Children's Residential Support Worker- Powys

We are looking to recruit 1 new team member to complete our staff team.

We currently support 2 boys aged 15 who present a variety of complex needs.

Salary: £8.00-£8.65 (dependent of experience/qualifications)

You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving licence.

Located in Powys the site is registered as a 3 bedroom complex care home. Burfa house and its staff team are able to offer support to young people with emotional, social and behaviour issues. We are able to offer various support packages that are tailored to support the individual needs of the young people in our care.

Burfa House is set within its own picturesque grounds in a rural location; it is situated approximately 25 miles for Hereford. We have access to company vehicles enabling us to easily transport our residents around the local area. Worcester is about 60 minutes in the car and Kington and Presteigne are approximately 10 minutes in the car which are also the closest small towns. The home has very few local neighbours but the home looks to build and maintain positive relationships with these people.

Types of duties
These can be varied but are all centered on the young person and can include:

- Providing encouragement when getting ready for school
- Transportation (Use of Company Car)
- Care Planning
- Meal Planning
- Organising and facilitating social activities (outside of school)
- Maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry and shopping etc.)
- Home management
- Liaising with external stakeholders and our own multi-disciplinary team

The day can be very unpredictable and quite easily you could spend the entire afternoon providing 1:1 support managing extremely challenging behavior, the right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices.

Shift patterns – what a typical 2 week rota could look like
Week 1
Monday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday – Day off
Thursday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Friday – Day off
Saturday – Day off
Sunday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In

Week 2
Monday – Day off
Tuesday – Day off
Wednesday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Thursday – Day off
Friday – Day off
Saturday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In
Sunday – Day off

- You will need the following skills/qualifications:
- A passion for working with children
- At least one year’s experience in Children’s Residential Care
- Excellent communication skills and a good team player
- Engaging
- Strong determination to succeed
- Effective leadership and Management
- A willingness to learn

You will be expected to have a level 3 diploma in Health & Social care or committed to passing this once you have completed your probationary period.
