Children's Residential Support Worker - Hodge Hill

Are you a Residential Care Worker with at least 18 months experience working with young people who have complex needs?

Would you like to join our committed and developing team located in Hodge Hill, Birmingham?

We are looking to recruit up to 1 new team member to complete our staff team. We support 3 boys aged 16-18 who present a variety of complex needs but are very settled in the home.

Salary: £7.65-£8.30 (dependent of experience/qualifications)

You must be over 21 years of age and hold a full UK driving licence

Located in Hodge Hill the site is a 3 bedroom complex care home which has 4 Bedrooms (3 for young People) 1 Bathroom, 2 toilets, 1 lounge, 1 dining room and a large rear back garden. 

The home is located approximately 5 miles from the Birmingham city centre which has many bus routes close by, No28, No94 and No11. We also have a train station approximately 10 minutes away. 

Types of duties 

These can be varied but are all centered on the young person and can include:

Providing encouragement when getting ready for school

Transportation (Use of Company Car)

Care Planning

Meal Planning

Organising and facilitating social activities (outside of school)

Maintaining the home (cleaning, laundry and shopping etc.)

Home management

Liaising with external stakeholders and our own multi-disciplinary team 

The day can be very unpredictable and quite easily you could spend the entire afternoon providing 1:1 support managing extremely challenging behavior, the right type of person needs to be flexible, adaptable and able to read situations and help our young people make positive choices. 

Shift patterns – what a typical 2 week rota could look like             

Week 1

Monday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In

Tuesday – Day off

Wednesday – Day off

Thursday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & Sleep In

Friday – Day off

Saturday – Day off

Sunday - Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In 

Week 2

Monday – Day off

Tuesday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In

Wednesday – Day off

Thursday – Day off

Friday – Early shift 07.30 – 15.30 / Late shift 15.00 – 23.00 & - Sleep In

Saturday – Day off

Sunday – Day off 

You will need the following skills/qualifications:

A passion for working with children

At least one year’s experience in Children’s Residential Care

Excellent communication skills and a good team player


Strong determination to succeed


Effective leadership and Management




A willingness to learn

You will be expected to have a level 3 diploma in Health & Social care or committed to passing this once you have completed your probationary period.
